My stepsister
Today was the first holiday spent with my stepdad and step sister. We woke up early this morning and headed toward Pasadenia. It wasn’t that long of a drive and we didn’t hit any traffic thankfully. As we pulled into my step dad’s old neighborhood his parents and brothers stood outside awaiting our arrival. As I walked inside the table was beautifully decorated and the smell of turkey floated in the air. His parents house was old and filled with alot of old antiques but it still felt homey. As the woman started cooking the kids sat down to all watch a movie. We watched four christmas’s and it was still as good as the first time I saw it.
After watching the movie we all sat down and began eating the delecious food. When we finished eating we started playing a game called one up one down. It’s were you go around the table saying your one down first of the year then one up of the year. At this point it got very emotional. My stepdads brothers wife had a heartattack this year. My step dads father was diagnosed with prostate cancer and thankfully over came it. My grandma was also diagnosed with lung disease. All the downs made everyone very emotional. It was something new though, a new tradition I hope to do again.
After eating, we all sat down and relaxed and turned on some football. At that point of course I fell asleep. When i woke up about an hour later it was time to leave. So we said our goodbyes and got back in the car and headed home. When we got home it made me realize how much I actually take for granted. I have so much and never actually realized how lucky I am. There are so many kids who went hungry today. So many kids who are dieing from disease and I am healthy. I am very thankful for my family and friends.
